The Single Most Important Denominator in Your Match
After five cycles of coaching international medical graduates through the residency application, here is what I know at the end of every single one.
The real obstacle
The biggest obstacle I see is not a score filter. It is not a graduation-year cutoff. It is not a visa policy.
It is self-critique.
I watch brilliant IMGs hold themselves to an impossible standard. They mistake feelings for facts. They decide they are "not competitive enough" before a single program has read their file. Then they shrink their applications to match that fear: fewer honors listed, careers compressed into one line, languages left out, geography boxes left blank.
Feelings are not facts
Distinguishing feelings from facts is hard when you are your own harshest critic. "I am not competitive" is a feeling. Your clinical years, your languages, your resilience, your service: those are facts.
The application rewards facts, clearly presented.
You are the denominator
You are the single most important denominator in your medical success story. Not your score. Not your year of graduation. Not your visa. You, and the decisions you make in this application.
I truly believe you have what it takes to be the next IMG physician in your dream specialty.
Let me help you see what programs will see
For the past five years, I have coached IMGs on what to avoid, what to add, and how to present their passions, talents, and skills even when they feel inadequate. My Trifecta service is a comprehensive review of your MyERAS application, personal statement, and strategy, written in language that makes the reviewer want to meet you.
Only 10 spots are available this cycle. Book your Trifecta review.
