Last Saturday we launched our book "The Chronicles of Women in White Coats" in Washington, DC. I still pinch myself. My mother told me recently that as a little girl growing up in Cameroon, I wrote a "story book" when I was 6 years old and asked her to be my editor. She didn't save the book and I don't remember the incident. But fast forward 20+ years and here we are. I've coauthored a medical memoir with 19 other phenomenal doctors to inspire and give insight into the true life of a doctor. Here are a few photos from the book launch. The Co-Authors 16/20 coauthors meet and greet in restaurant prior to taking the stage to share about our chapters. There are 230 pages in this book with 30 chapters. Each chapter is a short story chronicling an event from our medical lives and how that intersects with our "regular" lives. Book Project Founder & PublisherI authored 2/30 chapters and posed here with the founder and first author Dr. Robins. My first chapter is titled "Pride and Prejudice" and it details an experience with racism and sexism as a minority female physician and goes into my confession with harboring implicit bias. The second chapter is "Self care is better patient care" where I wrote about the personal side to my non-immigrant transition into medical training in the US, from Cameroon. I detail my battle with impostor syndrome, stereotypical inferiority and a fear for the infamous "July effect". The trials and triumphs shared in this book are meant to motivate, empower, strengthen and offer hope to many who continue to dare to dream. The goal is to show you how to go after your own goals with vigor and gusto while citing real life examples from real women whom you can relate to.To get a copy of our book here is the linkhttps://www.womeninwhitecoats.com
