How To Prepare For Standardized Tests i.e. the USMLE (United States Medical Licensure Examination)

The USMLE is the most terrifying part of the transition process for doctors who graduated from medical schools located outside of the US. It is a 3 step exam that comprises of multiple choice questions, designated to be completed over the course of your medical education.

In my opinion USMLE step 1 is the strongest determinator of your chances of matching into residency as an International Medical Graduate. I panic when I meet IMG’s who have failed one or a part of the USMLE because traditionally, though not impossible, the chances of matching reduce significantly after a failed attempt. Yes, there are attending physician IMG’s in clinical practice who have a record of not passing on first attempt so this doesn’t mean that matching after a failure is impossible. It just proves difficult.

Anyways, on today’s blog you will be watching a video presentation hosted by Dr. Enaka Yembe. Dr. Yembe, a physician and founder of American Stat Care Centers, opened her clinic from her sick bed and grew it to 7-figures in 8 months. A bestselling author, speaker, coach and mentor, she has appeared on local and network TV. She believes each person has the God-given ability to be successful. She is also board certified in Family Medicine and a clinical preceptor for 3rd and 4th year medical students in the Louisiana area. She presented this lecture to an audience of Cameroonian doctors who are in the process of preparing for one or all parts of the USMLE.

I apologize in advance that there will be some noise interference. This video was not recorded for public use at first, but backed by popular demand we decided to share it so others can benefit from the important lessons taught.
