Read MoreAs International Medical Graduates, we spend a lot of time focusing on exam scores, clinical experience, research, and letters of recommendation. While those things matter, I've noticed another factor that often has a significant impact on Match outcomes.
It's something I call self-elimination.
Self-elimination happens when we remove ourselves from opportunities before programs have the chance to evaluate us. Instead of allowing programs to determine whether we're a good fit, we make assumptions and quietly decide that we aren't competitive enough.
